Why we built CLRD.
CLRD came out of trying to scale a renewable energy company on my own. After a day fitting, or on the days I set aside for admin, I was weighed down by DNO paperwork. Admin has never come naturally to me, and it was the part of the job holding the business back.
A single submission could take me a couple of hours. I'd send it off and hope everything was right, then one small detail would be wrong and I'd wait weeks for the DNO to come back, with installations on hold and clients to keep happy in the meantime.
My first thought was to automate it with AI: every submission in one place, and full packs that passed every time. It wasn't possible. I couldn't find anything that got it right every time, bar expensive managed services running to a couple of hundred pounds for a complex installation, and even then nothing was guaranteed. That's where the idea for CLRD was born.
Once the first prototype was working, it cleared my backlog and my admin days, quickly and at the first time of asking. So I brought in a serious engineering team to build a serious product: one that does every part of the process correctly and at speed, and keeps companies fully DNO compliant. Built for every installer carrying the same load, and priced so it's available to everyone.

- NowAt market and processing repeat jobs for MCS certified installers every day. Version 2 covers multi technology jobs across solar, batteries, EV and heat pumps, multi premise batches, and a documented API available on larger plans. Version 2.3 added two optional AI features: a dashboard summary of what needs you today, and an assistant that answers questions about the forms and the standards. Neither touches routing, which stays deterministic. Since then: amendments on the same job, the loop impedance answer for SSEN and UK Power Networks, the DNO's approval read off its reply, partially type tested devices, and commercial solar and battery up to 1 MW on the Standard Application Form.
